Luca Orellano Shines with Two Goals as FC Cincinnati Defeats CF Montreal

Luca Orellano delivered a standout performance with two stunning goals, leading FC Cincinnati to a 4-1 home victory over CF Montreal on Saturday night.

Orellano’s first goal came just after halftime in the 46th minute. After a contentious moment in the first half when Montreal defender Joel Waterman’s foul on Kevin Kelsy was reviewed and ultimately awarded as a free kick just outside the penalty area, Orellano took full advantage. His curling free kick, which deflected off the Montreal wall, found the corner of the net, putting Cincinnati ahead 1-0.

Orellano’s second goal was even more dramatic. In the 57th minute, he executed a remarkable shot from a free kick taken 10 yards inside his own half, catching Montreal goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois off his line. Sirois, standing far outside his 18-yard box, could only watch as Orellano’s strike sailed over him into the net for a 3-0 Cincinnati lead.

In addition to Orellano’s brilliance, Cincinnati (16-8-3, 51 points) saw goals from Kevin Kelsy and Sergio Santos, completing their four-goal tally. The victory was a significant boost for Cincinnati, ending a four-match losing streak and marking their first MLS regular-season win since July 6.

Montreal (7-9-6, 27 points) managed a consolation goal in the 81st minute. Fernando Alvarez connected with Kwadwo Opoku, who split the Cincinnati defense and slotted the ball past goalkeeper Roman Celentano for Montreal’s lone goal.

Despite strong early performances from Sirois, who made several crucial saves to keep Montreal in the game, the Canadian side fell to their third consecutive MLS defeat. Montreal has struggled recently, being outscored 10-1 over their last three matches.

Next, CF Montreal will head back home to face Charlotte FC, while FC Cincinnati will prepare for the Hell is Real derby against the Columbus Crew.
