Study Reveals Kamala Harris Receives 84% Positive Media Coverage Despite Avoiding Press

A recent study shows Vice President Kamala Harris receiving overwhelmingly positive media coverage, despite avoiding unscripted press engagements, compared to former President Trump’s largely negative coverage.

Vice President Kamala Harris has been the beneficiary of overwhelmingly positive media coverage since entering the 2024 presidential race, with a recent study revealing that 84% of the coverage she has received has been favorable. This stands in stark contrast to former President Donald Trump, who has faced 89% negative coverage, according to a study by the Media Research Center (MRC).

The MRC study highlights that between 71% and 84% of registered Democrats and independents who voted for President Joe Biden in 2020 remain largely unaware of Harris’s more controversial and radical positions. The level of awareness varied depending on the issue in question, as indicated by a recent survey.

The establishment media has largely failed to scrutinize Harris’s record as a U.S. senator, focusing instead on promoting her candidacy. Over the past 29 days, Harris has avoided unscripted press conferences, and the media has not pressed her on her Soviet-style policies, further underscoring the bias in coverage.

According to the study, “Since Joe Biden exited the 2024 presidential race four weeks ago, the liberal networks have delivered an unprecedented boost of positive publicity to his successor in the race, Vice President Kamala Harris. Not only has Harris received 66% more airtime than former President Donald Trump, but the spin of Harris’s coverage has been more positive (84%) than any other major party nominee, even as Trump’s coverage has been nearly entirely hostile (89% negative).”

Despite the overwhelmingly positive coverage, Harris has struggled in unscripted moments. Over the weekend, she faced difficulties articulating her economic policies, including during a speech in Pennsylvania, where she spoke about the “duality to the nature of democracy.” Harris also stumbled when attempting to explain the concept of “return on investment” in relation to taxpayer spending on Soviet-style policies, using the phrase repeatedly without providing clear answers.

In a lighter but equally telling moment, Harris made headlines for an awkward visit to a Sheetz convenience store, where she purchased Doritos twice, a moment emblematic of her often criticized off-script interactions.

While the media continues to shield Harris from rigorous scrutiny, the study underscores the disparity in media coverage between her and her Republican counterparts, particularly J.D. Vance, who has faced 92% negative press. Despite this, Harris has pledged to schedule an interview “before the end of the month,” although it remains unclear whether this will occur within August or if it will simply be planned during this time frame.

As Harris’s campaign progresses, the ongoing media support and lack of critical examination raise questions about the fairness of coverage as the nation heads towards the 2024 election.
