Federal funding earmarked for three area fire departments

WASHINGTON D.C. – Three area fire departments have been awarded federal funding under the FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

The announcement was made by Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand.

The Arlington Fire District in the Town of Poughkeepsie will receive $219,018. Kripplebush Fire District in Stone Ridge will receive $114,285. And the Highland Lake Fire Department in Highland Lake will receive $52,095.

The funds will be used to provide protective gear, training, and supplies to emergency personnel.

The competitive grants are awarded to applicants that most closely meet the program’s requirements and demonstrate a commitment to its priorities.
