At the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) this Thursday, Tulsi Gabbard, a former Democratic Congresswoman and discussed vice-presidential contender for Donald Trump, delivered a poignant critique of the Democratic Party’s leadership and a staunch defense of Trump. Gabbard, who has appeared on Fox News with Laura Ingraham discussing her potential vice-presidential candidacy, expressed her deep concerns about the actions of the Democratic elite and “swamp creatures” in Washington, accusing them of undermining democratic principles and citizens’ rights in their quest for power.
“Our democracy is under attack,” Gabbard stated, pointing fingers at those claiming to save democracy while actively destroying it. She highlighted the ongoing assaults on democratic values, urging those who value peace and freedom to take notice and action against these threats. Gabbard warned that the Democratic elite and Washington’s deep state are attempting to restrict Americans’ freedom to choose their next president, labeling such efforts as unconstitutional and alarming.
Specifically, Gabbard criticized moves in states like Colorado and Maine to exclude Donald Trump from presidential ballots and called out Congressman Ro Khanna (D-CA) for attempting to sway Federal Reserve policies against Trump. She portrayed these actions as indicative of a broader abuse of power within the Democratic Party.
Gabbard also addressed the legal challenges Trump faces, suggesting that the myriad charges against him are aimed at undermining his potential reelection. She argued that these politically motivated legal actions set a dangerous precedent for the country’s legal and political systems, asserting, “They’re hoping and doing all that they can, that they can convict Donald Trump of some crime, any crime, to try to undermine his support and therefore prevent what they fear most, a second Trump presidency.”
The former congresswoman’s speech went beyond defending Trump, casting him as a threat to the establishment that derives power from the status quo. Gabbard called for unity against the corrupt Washington establishment, urging the audience to act in defense of American freedom and democracy.
