Thirty-six Henry County youths participated in Thursday’s Junior Livestock Market Hog Show at the Henry County Fairgrounds.
The 269-pound grand champion was shown by Bryleigh Hayes, while the 226-pound reserve grand champion was shown by Lilly Powell. The bred-and-born grand champion was the 272-pound hog shown by Caleb Diggs and the 299-pound bred-and-born reserve champion was shown by Colsyn Edwards.
The 36 hogs were divided into six classes by weight. Winners in each class are as follows, beginning with the youth who showed the first-place hog, then second, etc.:
Class 1 (200-224 pounds) — Summer Melton, Collin Whitehead, Kayden Tolley, Claire Lee, Anson Diggs and Dixie Bennett.
Class 2 (225-234 pounds) — Lilly Powell, Kian Daniels, Olivia Steele, Claire Steele, Remington Lowe, Parker James and Michael Eichel.
Class 3 (235-247 pounds) — Finn Watson, Eli Cobbs, Airlie Daniels, Emsley Sherrod, Cavan Daniels and Bryon Dean.
Class 4 (248-264 pounds) — Maci Smith, Kaylee Powell, Macie James, Tripp Houston, Max Hughes and James Schultz.
Class 5 (265-289 pounds) — Bryleigh Hayes, Drew Shepherd, Ava Claire Beecham, Wesley Smith, Caleb Diggs and Brayden Tosh.
Class 6 (290-345 pounds) — Chloe Beecham, Zeb Beecham, Benjamin Schultz, Eric Taylor and Colsyn Edwards.
In the showmanship competition, Bryleigh Hayes won at the senior high level, while Maci Smith won the junior high division and Drew Shepherd won the junior showmanship class.
Reed James and Greyson McDaniel were each winners in the pee-wee showmanship competition, which is open to kindergarten and younger.
Parker McDade was the winner in the Pre-4-H showmanship competition.
