The MacBook Air 15 inch is one of the highlights presented by Apple during the WWDC 2023 developer conference, which took place from June 5th to June 9th.
According to BGR, the MacBook Air 15 inch is one of the three new Mac machines introduced by Apple, taking up approximately 5 minutes of the presentation because it is simply a larger variant of the 13.6-inch model launched last year. However, this doesn't mean that the product doesn't bring any surprises to consumers, especially in terms of pricing.
The starting price for the MacBook Air 15 inch is $1,299 USD.
With its larger screen size, thin and lightweight design, and especially the inclusion of the M2 chip, the 15-inch model of the MacBook Air becomes enticing. Even without the M3 chip (which Apple has yet to release), the M2 ensures excellent performance and battery life for the product. The MacBook Air 15 inch promises up to 18 hours of battery life (playing Apple TV movies) or up to 15 hours of wireless web browsing. These figures are on par with the estimates for the 13.6-inch MacBook Air and the M2-powered 14-inch MacBook Pro.
However, Apple has surprised consumers with its pricing. The starting price for the MacBook Air 15 inch is $1,299 USD, which is $300 lower than what many analysts had predicted, even though those predictions were for a product with the M3 chip. The base version of the MacBook Air 15 inch comes with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, and users can spend an additional $200 to upgrade to the 8/512 GB version or opt for even higher RAM and storage capacities at a higher price point.

With its base version, the surprising price of $1,299 USD makes it a computer that Apple's competitors will be concerned about. Apple also continues to sell the MacBook Air M1 starting from $999 USD, which is a strong contender in the market. Additionally, the 13.6-inch MacBook Air M2, starting at $1,099 USD, is also a powerful option.
The transition to the M-series chip has certainly allowed Apple to deliver a powerful lineup of MacBook Air models. The M-series chip is not only a nightmare for Intel and competing rivals, but it also helps Apple reduce production costs by not having to purchase chips from other manufacturers. Users can pre-order the MacBook Air 15 inch starting now before it is delivered next week. Just in time for back-to-school shopping, college students can save on the new 15-inch MacBook Air with education pricing through Apple Retail, and receive an Apple Gift Card of $150.
