Over 2,300 People Dead After Earthquake Hits Turkey and Syria

A powerful earthquake hit southeastern Turkey and northwestern Syria early Monday, resulting in the death of over 2,300 people. The pre-dawn quake was centered in the town of Pazarcik in Turkey's southeastern Kahramanmaras province and was followed by several powerful aftershocks. Thousands of buildings were toppled on both sides of the border. Turkey and Syria have declared a state of emergency. The UK is deploying emergency response teams to assist with rescue efforts.
