Kyle Brimer, 17, was killed Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 10, when his motorcycle collided with a car at the intersection of Carnelian Street and Pacific Coast Highway in Redondo Beach.
Shortly after 2:15 p.m., Brimer, riding southbound, hit a sedan that was making a left turn.
Witnesses called 911 and police arrived to find the boy lying unresponsive in the street. He was taken to a hospital where he died of his injuries.
News footage from KTLA showed that the impacted car’s airbags came out and the motorcycle was heavily damaged from the crash.
Lt. Corey King of the Redondo Beach Police reported that the driver of the car, an adult woman, remained at the scene and cooperated with police.
Brimer went to Redondo Beach public schools until sophomore year of high school, when he left to another school.
Drugs and alcohol are not suspected in the incident.
