China said it will impose 34 percent reciprocal tariffs on imports of U.S. goods in response to Trump’s new tariffs. It follows Canada’s announcement of countermeasures on Thursday.
U.S. stocks lost around $3 trillion in market value on Thursday the largest one-day decline in five years. But President Trump says the market will boom, just like a patient will heal after an operation. NTD speaks with Chief Economist and Executive Director of the Milken Institute, William Lee for analysis of the new tariffs and the reaction from stock markets.
A powerful storm system will bring “significant, life-threatening flash flooding” in the central U.S. through Saturday. At least seven people have already died in Tennessee, Missouri and Indiana. Forecasters warn this is just the beginning of a multi-day weather event threatening over 90 million people.
