A caring schoolboy befriended a stray cat by giving it water from his hand.

Footage shows the kind youngster letting the tabby drink some fountain water out of his hands during a trip to the Hengshan Temple in Liaoning, China, on October 28.

The kitten lapped up the drink gratefully, and was later seen cuddling up to the boy as he sat on a bench.

An onlooker said: 'He wanted to take a picture of the kitten, so he waited patiently for the right moment and did not try to force the cat. At such a young age, he shows respect for animals.'
