President Biden also spoke by phone with President-elect Trump and congratulated him on his victory.
President Biden expressed his commitment to ensuring a smooth transition and emphasized the importance of working to bring the country together.
He also invited President-elect Trump to meet with him in the White House. The staff will coordinate a specific date in the near future.
Tomorrow, President Biden will address the nation to discuss the election results and the transition.

Vice President Harris called President-elect Trump Wednesday to congratulate him on winning the election, a senior aide told The Hill.
Harris “discussed the importance of a peaceful transfer of power and being a president for all Americans,” the aide added.

Harris is scheduled to speak at 4:00 p.m. ET at Howard University which is anticipated to be her her concession speech.
What happened overnight
The Associated Press has called Minnesota and Maine District 1 for Harris, Wisconsin for Trump.
As a result, Trump has 280 electoral votes and Harris has 224 votes.
Republican Tim Sheehy of Montana, a former U.S. Navy Seal, defeated 3-term incumbent Sen. Jon Tester (D). GOP's total seats in the US Senate increased to 52 with a wider majority.

Former President Donald Trump has secured the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidential race.
Unlike 2016, he also got more popular votes this time.
According to The Associated Press, Trump got 67,126,504 votes, 51.2%, as of 1:50 a.m. ET Wednesday while his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, gained 62,199,777 votes, 47.4%.
The Republicans are also set to control the US Senate.
It's still unclear which party will control the US House. It usually takes several days to know.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Recounts 30k Absentee Ballots (FOX6 Milwaukee):
Roughly 30,000 ballots in Milwaukee will have to be recounted, the city said on Tuesday afternoon, because of a tabulator issue.
City spokesperson Jeff Fleming said the tabulators were sealed – but the doors to those machines were not closed properly. The issue involved early absentee and in-person ballots and affected all 13 tabulators.
