Welcome to my channel!
This channel primarily shares stories about local cultures, cuisine, scenic spots, and fascinating anecdotes from various places.
The channel owner, A Zhu, lives in Longtan, Taoyuan, less than 10 kilometers from Shimen Reservoir, which is just about a 10-minute drive away. Since Longtan is part of the Shimen Reservoir watershed area, residents with a Longtan household registration can enter the reservoir free of charge. As a result, Shimen Reservoir has become A Zhu’s "backyard," where he often strolls and enjoys the scenery.
Shimen Dam is a central vertical core earth-rock dam located in the Shimen Gorge of the Dahan River. It intercepts the river’s flow, forming the reservoir. With a maximum height of 133.1 meters, it is the second tallest earth-rock dam in Taiwan. Originally designed as a concrete arch dam, geological conditions during early construction did not meet expectations. As a result, in 1960 (the 49th year of the Republic of China), the design was changed to an earth-rock dam, making it a rare case in international engineering.
